my name is Ericka Louis and I thank you for choosing Douna Doula. Delivering Optimal Universal Natal Assistance is not only a standard of service but a passion that has manifested into a safe natal environment for women of color by a woman of color. In honor of my late younger sister Danielle ‘Douna’ Louis, Douna Doula specializes in pregnancy, labor, postpartum, and lactation care for all.

My Story

I was always interested in medicine, even as a child. So when it became time to consider what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I knew that helping people was at the top of my list. Becoming a certified birth Doula is my first step in ultimately becoming a midwife.

The mortality rate of women of color during labor and delivery in comparison to our counterparts is extremely alarming. Due to unintentional biases, medical malpractice and other travesties, it is imperative that women of color show up and advocate for each other where it matters the most. While most women of color are not afforded the opportunity or luxury of having a doula both during and after pregnancy, Douna Doula is committed to providing affordable and preeminent care for all mothers.
